Mark Peters - Wonderful Crotons

Mark Peters has been raising and promoting Crotons for many years. He came to TRBG on Valentine's Day, Saturday, the 14th of February to tell our faithful audience of his many experiences with crotons. We now have a new respect for this poor plant that was used over and over by the construction landscapers during the building of homes 20 years ago, so much so, that people began to look down on this beautiful, colorful plant that does not ask much from us.

In the past few years, Crotons have been newly "discovered" and are now, once again, getting some respect.  A relatively easy plant to care for, they will give you many years of beauty with little demands on your time and resources. Some of the new varieties are amazing!

Before his lecture, Peters was available to talk to and identify plants for Martin County Master Gardener, Ellie Finey, who stayed for the talk.

Mark Peters gets very enthusiastic when he starts talking about his plants.

Peters had a range of topics about crotons to share with us and the audience was delighted.

We discovered a new manner of propagation that works well for Peters.

Diane and Jim thank Mark Peters for his informative talk.

Peters did a "walk and talk" around the garden after the lecture to the delight of the audience.

Paul Ladd, a Martin County Master Gardener, walked home with a new addition to his beautiful garden.

Judy Moore's colorful shirt added to the beauty of her prize croton.

Hedy Callahan was heading home to plant her new acquisition.
