On Saturday, the 17 of February, 2007,  Martin County  Master Gardener, James Shearer presented a very interesting talk in Our Educational Lecture Series. On this very chilly but sunny day, as you will see from the bundled-up audience, James presented "An Introduction to Bonsai" at TRBG. The program was well received with many, many questions about this Oriental Art Form.  James has a fascination with things Oriental; he was also a student of Martial Arts and has attained a third degree Black Belt in Uechi Ryu Karate. Although these plants are small, many of them are upwards of 25 years old.

The sun warmed the listeners a bit.

First Point: Bonsai is an Art Form.

James is an entertaining speaker and had us chuckling with his dry humor..

Interesting fact: Most of the questions came from the males in the audience.

One of our first arrivals at the lecture and the first winner, Konnie Wolfinger

Marilyn Kallit loved her Bonsai Desert Rose.

Our third winners, Bill and Greta Temple pose with their winnings.

Russell & Joan Mann with their new Bonsai project.
